2001 – The Boxes Gift boxes collecting objects and fragments tied to memory, ritual and quality. Restart Milano creates small narrative containers in which the gift is not only what lies inside, but also the gesture, the anticipation and the story that accompany it.
2003 – Via Varese At Via Varese 3, Restart Milano takes shape. Exercises for actions, works, time and peep shows: a place of experimentation where objects, gestures and installations engage with everyday life, turning space into a narrative device.
2004 – The Containers Restart Milano enters into dialogue with contemporary art through two shipping containers. The first hosts a work by Alessandra Andrini. The second is by Restart Milano: a series of wooden objects designed for everyday actions–reading, eating, writing–treated as small domestic rituals.
2004 – The Ring If childhood memories associate the ring with the halos of improbable Madonnas carried in summer processions, Restart Milano reinterprets it, redesigns its fitting and includes it in its gift box collection. A humble popular object is removed from its original context and transformed into a sign, a memory and a gift.
2008 – The Book The book documents the working process developed between 2001 and 2005. Special thanks to Michele Calzavara, who not only wrote it but also accompanied me throughout those years.
2008 – Fabbrica del Vapore Exhibition At Fabbrica del Vapore, the exhibition becomes the physical counterpart of the projects presented in the book: three exhibition rooms and a video installation by Andrea Linke.
2009 – Remaster The works of the great masters become two-dimensional, while their functional role is entrusted to anonymous objects sourced from local hardware stores.
2011 – Bells at Rinascente An aristocratic gesture from another era: the bell used to summon household staff. By cutting the base from a series of drinking glasses and inserting a clapper, Restart Milano transforms them into gift objects.
2015 – Voyeur The research turns towards Turin: an exhibition of Carlo Mollino Polaroids, a series of mirrors derived from the plans of Baroque churches in Piedmont, and two new lamps.
2011 – Yellow Trace Restart Milano reaches a new stage, taking on a commercial dimension for the first time: a chair, two lamps, a tabletop bookcase and a wall-mounted bookcase. The first collection.
2013 – Accademia The dialogue with art continues through Simone Berti, who accompanies Restart Milano products with a series of site-specific installations.
2015 – Italian Obsession Two iconic designs: Franco Albini’s LB7 bookcase and Achille Castiglioni’s BETA bookcase. Restart Milano rewrites them by recomposing the same elements using existing metal brackets. Alongside them, a major exhibition exploring the obsessions behind Italy’s finest craft traditions.
2018 – Via Brisa The storefront expands to host a selection of domestic correspondences from the 2024 collection.
2019 – T293 Gallery At T293 Gallery in Rome, Restart Milano presents an installation conceived in dialogue with Patrizio Di Massimo.
2025 – Via Gorizia – Olivetti Another reflection on Olivetti: the redesign of the Spazio system lamp; five AI-generated images exploring the idea of “Community” in 2050; a new edition of Design Process featuring an additional essay on the project; and a limited edition of the 2025 Olivetti agenda. Guest artist: Diego Perrone.
